The Leonardo - STEM Works: Biotechnology

The Leonardo is committed to expanding high school, post-secondary and adult learner access to technical education across the WIRED region through interactive experiences for informal science education.

We have created the STEM Works: Biotechnology program to travel throughout the Wasatch Front. The exhibits in STEM Works are highly interactive and very portable. There are facilitators that engage the visitors during the entire experience to help guide them towards possible career pathways in Biotechnology.

The STEM Works: Biotechnology exhibits focus on the topics of Molecules, Cells, Photosynthesis and Respiration.  Another component is the Faces of Biotechnology exhibit that will highlight individuals whose lives are impacted by Biotechnology. A resource table with job materials provided by our WIRED partners and others will also be provided. We are currently scheduling events through the end of November 2010.

We extend ourselves to all community and other WIRED partners who are interested in having STEM Works: Biotechnology at their events. These exhibits are most effective with high school students and the older adult populations.

The Leonardo is fulfilling its WIRED grant objectives by:

  • Creating interactive exhibits that motivate and educate adults on fields in biotechnology
  • Providing workforce and career information to adults
  • Hosting free public events throughout the Wasatch Front
